I paced up and down the concrete contemplating what my next move should be, I looked at my watch and realized it was already halfway through lunch, so now would be best to decide what I’m going to do. I looked over at my friends underneath the hut we normally sat at, having their lunches, I looked over at my target, May Pan, talking with her friends, then I saw my best friend Lee approaching me. Lee was one of those people who will have your back with anything, and in this time, I really needed him.  

“Have you figured out what you are going to do?” Lee asked with a smile.

“Yes, I’m going to do it” I answered a little hesitant, Lee noticed.

“Well, good luck, hope she says yes, rooting for you” He says as he slaps my shoulder, and looks at me with a sideways smile.

“Thanks man, for everything” I said, as I went in for a handshake, and we met.

“Now go get her, buddy” He explained looking at me, let go of my hand, patted me on the shoulder, and pushed me towards the hut, I looked back at him and he was encouraging me to go forward.

I headed over to the hut, the hut was a place where my friends and I hung out. I looked over and there she was, her brown hair shone, and her blue eyes were the color of the sky. I brushed myself off, made myself look nice and tidy, I approached her and tapped her on the shoulder.

“Hey, could I please talk to you in private” I asked,  she looked over at me, then answered.

“Ok Nathan”  We proceeded to walk to the other side of the hut to be alone and out of earshot from everyone else.

“What is it you wanted to talk to me about?” She asked curiously.

 I tried to speak but I couldn’t, nervous thoughts started running through my head, ’Should I ask her to be my girlfriend?’ It felt like the silence went on for hours, then I made up my mind ‘Yes I’m going to do it, oh my god, I can’t believe I’m asking her to be my girlfriend’. I looked over at Lee who was starting to sit down and he noticed me looking at him, and smiled, and telepathically said ‘do it, I believe in you’ well that’s just what I thought from the look he gave me.  

“Look, I feel so happy when I’m with you” I stuttered,  “and I feel this… connection between us” I felt like I was going to be sick, and May realized this, but I spoke before she could say anything.

“Look what I’m trying to say is that, I want to be with you, so would you like to be with me and be my girlfriend?” It seemed like an eternity until she responded.

“Yes I would much like that, Nathan” she finally answered blushing a little bit.

“Really?!” I asked with hope, then she nodded happily.

“Yes” She answered in a whisper and smiled, then I jumped with joy and mentally was screaming out ‘Yes!’ May blushed a little bit.

I grabbed her hand and we had our first kiss, we were a little rustic, ‘but we can fix up the kiss later’  I thought to myself, at that moment I was more thinking about when to tell her my secret. Our friends saw us kissing and came running over to us, their eyes brimming with curiosity. We stopped kissing and she put her arms around my neck and happily smiled.

“So, I’m assuming she said yes then” Lee asked, and I nodded happily “Well good on you” He said as he went in for a hug, and I hugged him.

“Thank you” I whispered in Lee’s ear.

“No worries, I’m proud of you” Lee whispered back, we broke from the hug.

 I grabbed ahold of May’s hand as The first bell rang. We were walking to our bags, I put my free arm around May, and I kissed her on the forehead, she squeezed my hand harder then before. Then the second bell rang, and everyone headed to class.
